Benefits of Car Window Tint

1. Enhance Your Car’s Look With Tinted Windows

Simply put, window tinting gives your car a sleek, upgraded appearance—like adding a stylish pair of sunglasses to your outfit. You’ll not only enjoy the benefits of reduced heat but also give your vehicle a cooler, more polished look.

2. Keeps The Interior Cooler & Blocks The Heat

If you’re always cranking up the AC, your windows might be the culprit. Without tint, the sun constantly heats up your interior, forcing your AC to work harder. Tinted windows block much of that heat, keeping your car cooler and making it easier for your AC to maintain a comfortable temperature.

3. Gives The Occupants More Privacy

Without tinted windows, anyone can easily see into your vehicle at all times, which can feel invasive. If you value your privacy and want added protection, window tinting is the perfect solution to keep your personal space secure and private.

4. Holds The Vehicle's Glass Together If Broken

Accidents happen, and if your glass is shattered, tinted windows can help hold the pieces together, preventing shards from spilling all over your interior. While it doesn’t fix the situation, it can make cleanup quicker and reduce the mess, helping to speed up the repair process.

Elegant Visuals Auto Detailing Window Tint Process

At Elegant Visuals Auto Detailing, we understand how frustrating it is to deal with bubbling, peeling edges, or film turning purple after just a few months. That’s why we offer premium window tinting services that guarantee a defect-free installation. Here’s a look at our process:

Step 1: Removal and Thorough Cleaning
If needed, we’ll carefully remove any existing film and thoroughly clean the glass to remove any leftover adhesive or contaminants. This step is crucial for a proper and long-lasting installation.

Step 2: Cutting, Shrinking, and Installing the Tint
We take the time to cut, shrink, and install the tint on your windows with precision. This is the most time-intensive part of the process, ensuring a flawless and clean installation.

Step 3: Final Inspection and Post-Heating
Once the tint is applied, we double-check every detail—ensuring the edges are clean, no contaminants are trapped behind the film, and post-heating the tint to guarantee it sticks properly.

The films we use are premium quality, virtually maintenance-free, and highly durable. This is not the cheap tint you find in a DIY kit at the auto parts store.

You’ll get the best possible final result. Depending on the size of your vehicle, the installation can take up to a full day. If you choose to pair it with additional detailing services, the process may take a bit longer—but we’ll always discuss the timeline with you upfront.

FAQ About Window Tint

How long does it take to tint my windows?
The time it takes depends on a few factors:

  • Are we removing pre-existing tint?

  • How large are the windows?

  • How many windows are being tinted?

  • Are the windows complex?

Generally, if we're tinting all the windows, we ask for a full day to complete the job. For just the front two windows, it’ll usually take a few hours.

What’s the difference between a tint kit and what you offer?
Tint kits are a good starting point if you want to tint your windows yourself. However, the process can get tricky and frustrating, and the quality of the film is often lower than what professional shops use. While it can work if you’re dedicated, the results might not be as smooth or long-lasting as the high-quality films we use.

Are the windows tinted on the interior or exterior of the car?
Window tinting is always done on the interior of the window. While the film is sometimes cut or shrunk on the exterior to fit, the actual installation happens on the inside of the glass for optimal adhesion and durability.

What are the tint laws in Iowa?
In Iowa, the legal tint limits vary based on the vehicle's windows. The front windshield must allow at least 70% light transmission, while the front side windows should allow at least 70% as well. The rear windows and back windshield have no specific restrictions. If you wish to have your windows tinted beyond the legal limits allowed by Iowa law, a liability release waiver must be signed. Prior to installation, we will review the Iowa Tint Laws with you in person, and you will be required to sign the waiver before we begin any work.

How long will my window tint last?
The longevity of your window tint depends on the quality of the film, how you care for your vehicle, and environmental factors. The HITEK films we use come with a lifetime warranty and are designed to resist delamination, cracking, peeling, bubbling, and color-changing.

Can you tint my front windshield?
Yes, we can tint your front windshield. The windshield often lets in the most heat, so tinting it can significantly reduce the temperature inside your vehicle. For minimal darkness, we typically use 75% ceramic tint on windshields, which rejects heat without compromising visibility.

What’s the difference between each window film?
We offer a range of tint options:

  • Classic Tint: Provides privacy but offers no heat rejection.

  • Carbon Tint: Offers some heat rejection and privacy.

  • Ceramic Tint: Offers the highest level of heat rejection, keeping your car cooler and more comfortable.

Each type has different levels of heat rejection, with ceramic offering the most significant benefit.

When can I roll down my windows?
We recommend waiting 24 hours after installation before rolling down your windows. This allows the film to properly cure and adhere to the glass. Rolling your windows down prematurely can shift the film, causing gaps or peeling edges. In colder weather, it’s safer to wait 48 hours to ensure proper curing.

Do you have to take off the old film first?
Yes, we must remove any pre-existing tint before installing new film. Sometimes the old tint comes off easily, but other times it may peel off in pieces, leaving adhesive behind. We thoroughly prep the glass to ensure the new film adheres properly.

Should I try to install tint myself?
We’ve all started there! You can certainly order a generic tint kit and give it a try. It can be a rewarding DIY project, but keep in mind that it can also be tricky and time-consuming. Achieving professional-quality results takes skill and experience, which is why many choose to leave it to the experts for a flawless finish.

My glass has small chips in it. Will this affect the tint process?
Small chips won’t affect the tinting process itself or the film's adhesion, but they may become more visible once the tint is applied. If there are any significant cracks or chips, we’ll advise you on the best course of action.
